26th May '08 Netherfield Lagoons

Netherfield Lagoons

These are a former slurry pits adjacent to the Trent and backing on to an industrial estate. Parking can be a problem especially in the week when the car auctions is on and other business activity. You can do a nice figure of eight walk around the lagoons themselves after the initial walk alongside the small brook, where Wagtail, Kingfisher, and many other little brown jobs can be seen or heard. Lookout for the Marsh Orchids, especially abundant alongside the path around Deep Pit.:-
Linnet, Pochard, Little Grebe, Swift, Housemartin.
