30th January '09 Fairham Brook

Very cold, cloudy, breeze.

Fairham Brook

I started from the Silverdale Community Centre and headed upstream. In places the path was very muddy, and precarious on the edge of the bank, where the brook was swollen with flood water. The brook runs alongside all the schools I went to when we lived at Clifton. It certainly was a nostalgic reunion, and bought back many memories. I went as far as Clifton Pasture then headed back. Had lunch at the playing fields on the picnic tables then back to the Centre. I had a bit more time so I decided to check out the field of scrub downstream before it goes under the main road. It paid off. A pair of Stonechats and a female Reed Bunting.:-

Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, LTT, Reed Bunting, Fieldfare, Kestrel, Stonechat, Lapwing, Usual.
