27th June '09 Sewerby Foreshore

Warm, sunny later, breezey.

Sewerby Foreshore.

View from the cliff top looking towards Bridlington harbour wall.

After the 'white out' at The Dams I was determined to find a Rock Pipit to add it to our list of 'firsts'. I thought I'd seen one last year near the outlet at Sewerby so that's where my search began. From the steps leading to the foreshore I went north and after 300yds spotted a little brown job. Sure enough to my delight it was a Rock Pipit. Fellow birders will tell you what a buzz it gives you when you've not stumbled across an unknown bird but actually set out to find a specific bird with no foreknowledge of previous sightings. I didn't take the steps back to the cliff top, I floated back up!

ROCK PIPIT*, Oyster Catcher, Kittiwake, Herring Gull, Black Headed Gull.
