Whitton Sands and Faxfleet Ponds
After making several visits to farmers front doors we finally found the correct parking spot. We probably saw more birds in the process of doing this than we did when we were out and about.
There were flocks of redwing and fieldfare in the hedgerows after berries. We also saw some little brown jobs. They would appear out of the reedbeds alongside us and sometimes nearly hover before moving to the next perch. At a guess I thought they were maybe Corn Buntings.
Its a nice walk along the levee to the Whitton Sands, but when you get there its obvious a scope is essential to ID most of the many birds on the banks opposite. You can see the Humber Bridge from here. Hence there are no sightings to report despite the fact there were 100's seen.
We had a bit more luck at Faxfleet Pond which is up river from where we parked. The ponds are quite small but sustains plenty of wildlife, and the views across the confluence to Blacktoft are exceptional.
