Cold, cloudy, breeze.
Bennerley Marsh
We've decided to visit all of the designated sights on the NottsBirds website. We parked at a purpose carpark just off the Awsworth bypass and beside the Nottingham Canal. A steady walk along here gave us good views over the Erewash valley below. There were waders there but outside the scope of our goggles. The Lapwing however were easy to distinguish. Not much was seen until after double backing from the water treatment plant and crossing the Erewash where some nice looking scrub seemed to promise something. It looked ideal stonechat country. A steady walk back along the Erewash Canal brought us to the Ilkestone Town FC. The only way back to the car was by road. Margaret stayed put. Just as well, it was a dangerous trek.
