17th March '08 Attenborough Nature Reserve

Cold, cloudy

Attenborough Nature Reserve

This is usually a very busy place, though having said that the busiest place about it is the centre itself. They must do really nice meals there. There are two hides here. The nearest from the centre is the Kingfisher Hide. A lovely spot with a nice feeder station to view. I saw my first Goldfinch there. If you like rats then you'll see plenty of them too, competing with the birds.
The other hide is further down the river. You need a key to get entry. I paid a fiver to have my own. This is the hide the more serious birders visit in the hope of seeing a bittern. I'm still hoping! :-
SANDMARTINS*, SHOVELERS*, WILLOW TIT*, EGYPTIAN GEESE*, Goosander, Long Tailed, Great and Blue Tits. Great Crested Grebe.
