Ogston Resevoir

Joan, George, Phil, oh and not forgetting Fanny our navigator for the day, accompanied me on this first off trip to Ogston Resevoir. I had heard good things about this place and had passed this
on to my fellow travellers, who like me were expecting some good sightings. What a let down. Fanny had got us there, well almost, we had to follow our noses for the last half mile. She's on her final warning! There were plenty of cars in the carpark, that seemed encouraging. However we soon found out that there is no access around the resevoir. The road did skirt the resevoir only partially. So viewing was restricted from there, not that there was anything to look at! There is a public hide, with good views across the water. So we set off along the road to Brackenfield. All the birds were seen from the roadside in hedgerows and fields.

Snowdrops and the resevoir in the distance.
Little Grebe, Cormorant, Great Crested Grebe, Jay, Mistle Thrush, Nuthatch, Coaltit, Greater Spotted WP, Grey Heron, Chaffinch.
