24th February '09 Wollaton Park

Cold, dull, slight breeze.

Wollaton Park
View across the lake to the Hall.

It is a typical late February day. The light is appalling even for spotting birds let alone for identifying and photographing them. Its just as well as I hardly saw a thing. There seemed to be an airy silence throughout the wood as if every living thing had abandoned it. Fortunately a lone Mistle Thrush must have got up late and missed the evacuation. Then along the outer wall I spotted Nuthatches. They seemed to be house hunting along with a bit of flirting I suppose. Anyway apart from a Greater Spotted Woodpecker and more Nuthatch that was it! Still it was delightful to see them back.

The Wood.

Mistle Thrush, Nuthatch, Greater Spotted WP, Chaffinch.
