Wollaton Park
Today I went up to the magnificent oak turning right instead of left after entering at the gatehouse from Derby Road. Usually I only see the odd Coaltit, LTT, Great and Blue Tits. Today it was Wrens, I've not seen these for ages, they were really active, Goldcrest and lots of TreeCreepers. With having such a good start I was expecting the main wood to add Woodpeckers and Nuthatch. Unusually there was nothing. I searched every branch on every tree. Again all I came up with were Wrens. Even the Great Tit were shy to make an appearance.
I had to go to the lake to make the list look a bit more respectable. The Pochards did the trick.
Wren, LTT, Goldcrest, Coal Tit, Tree Creeper, Chaffinch, Jackdaw, Pochard.
The Wood looking toward the hall. Later the floor will be carpeted in bluebells.
