Attenborough Nature Reserve.
The reason for the bird pictures today is because we are trying out a 500mm lens. Yes, 500mm, alright! Although it must be said I really love to see a good quality photo, and I do appreciate the skill it requires to get that right one, my enjoyment comes mainly from finding the little varmints, identifying them in the goggles, then if I'm lucky getting a half decent snap which can be glorified further in the laboratory, in other words on Piccasa 3! Now I've heard it said by so called experts, that this is not cricket, yet what is cricket about using a 500mm or whatever when I have to stalk that extra 20-100yds to make up for it with my 200mm. They are using a more sophisticated bit of optics in the same way I'm using a bit of software. Having said all that, if I had the smackeroonies I would buy one. Since I haven't I make do with my mate Picca. If I had only the amount of money one of these lenses costs I would spend it on a good telescope with enough left over for a big bag of pic-n-mix from Wilkos.
Whitethroat, Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Kingfisher, Reed Bunting, Ringed Plover.
