Warm, wet and windy.
Filey Dams.
If you read the sightings recorded now, in your excitement you may not notice that I have not posted any pictures. Calm down. The day before leaving I can assure you the battery indicator displayed 'full charge'. I promise this won't happen again. The moment I get back I will ensure the battery charger goes in the optic bag. After I've recharged it! Immediately on clocking the pond it was evident that the water level was a good deal lower than when we last visited. We were informed that the sluices had not long been lifted in order to provide that right conditions for migrating waders in the coming weeks. And the first birds of note to be sighted were indeed waders. With my other sister Sue and husband Rob the three main sightings for them were firsts. And an amazing sight of a heron lungeing into the first pond, which couldn't have been more than 4ins deep and dropping back on the dam with a 1lb roach in its beak! You could see the outline of the roach, when it was eventually swallowed, worming its way down the herons neck.
