Strumpshaw Fen.
This is a lovely place with three trails covering woodland, fen and meadow seperately. Because of the size of the place a good day is needed to cover all three trails. We only took in the fen and although the path was relaxing early on it deteriorated along the riverside all the way to the boardwalk, so much so I was more than relieved to make it back to the carpark. Since our visit to Cley we are now pretty good at spotting Bearded Tits as they dart from one patch of reed to another. Hence more sightings here that would previously have gone unrecorded. The hides are good, with plenty of accommodation and the visitor centre excellent, and run by very helpful staff. We were disappointed in not seeing the Swallow butterfly. Well the others were, I'd seen one earlier at Ranworth Broad which we'd visited on our way here.
Yes, that is a Marsh Harrier. Just to prove we do actually see them.
Marsh Harrier, Bearded Tit, Willow Garden and Reed Warblers, Cetti's Warbler heard, Chiffchaff, Jay, Reed Bunting.
