22nd November '08 Bestwood Country Park

Sunny, very cold.

Bestwood Country Park

A lovely park with woodland, meadows, a pond and the River Leen. So plenty of variety. Today though I decided to stick to the Mill Ponds. That way you can concentrate on a smaller area and become more familiar with its inhabitants, rather than try to cover a much larger area in the same time. This is the first time I have seen so many Bullfinch. I know it may not seem many but when your sightings of this lovely bird are usually 2 at the most than 7 is a flock! I also saw birds feeding on Alder seeds and thought they may have been Redpoll. A combination of looking into the sun and poor optics made ID for me at any rate left to a guess.

Bullfinch, Wren, Chaffinch, Longtailed Tit.
