4th February '09 Attenborough Nature Reserve

Sunny, cold, slight breeze with snow still on the ground.

Attenborough Nature Reserve

I covered the Erewash Field and Trent Meadow only. There was no sign of the Stonechats today. I can only assume they cannot feed on the ground where there is snow between the tufts of vegetation. So as I passed on the first sweep I didn't see a thing. Fortunately it was a beautiful morning and it was just lovely to be out. I started to see things when I got to Trent Meadow. In all I did 3 sweeps of Erewash Field without seeing the chats, but it finally came good on the final sweep with the Green WP and a Sparrow Hawk.

Erewash Field:-
Wren, Green WP, Sparrow Hawk, Kestrel.

Trent Meadow:-
Redwing, Chaffinch, Bullfinch, Meadow Pipit, Greater Spotted WP, Goosander.
