Attenborough Nature Reserve
Beeston Marsh.
It was a toss up between coming here and getting soaked or grouting the kitchen tiles. Attishoooo! I began in Beeston Marsh. Although there is not a lot to see bird wise, I can't resist the way it makes you feel a part of nature itself. Its like the whole of the nature reserve is in this one place and there's only yourself in it. Like I said, I've yet to see anything here and today was no ezception. In between the showers I made my way to Delta Hide, passing the Cetti's Warbler on the way. While I ate lunch listening to the rain hammering on the tin roof , Reed Warblers were in and out of the beds opposite, and a Crested Grebe with a young one, paddled before me. The chicks are quite attractive things. The rest of the visit took me along Warbler Alley where I met John. As we walked back the Cetti refused to show, or make itself heard even. John has a reputation for making birds become reclusive and non-existant! If ever you go into a hide and he's there, make an excuse and leave, cos you'll see nowt!
Don't the lilies look lovely?
Willow Tit, Bullfinch, Cetti's Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Whitethroat, Blackcap, Reed Bunting, Common Tern.
