Attenborough Nature Reserve
The forcast for today was good so after picking up my sister Sue we headed here. Sue's only taken up birding in the last year. I couldn't help notice while we were out how limited her sight was. I think she needed her bins as you would a pair of specs. We just covered the route around Clifton Pond now that the new hide is finished. Before we got to the Kingfisher hide, Sue managed to spot a bird a couple of feet from the path. A Peacock! She'd never have seen it withoout the bins.
There's something about the power station that never fails to behold me.
We had plenty of good sightings despite it being fairly quiet, culminating in Linnets seen from the top of the steps of the new hide. This will give a good outlook over Erewash Field and Clifton Pond reedbeds and scrapes. With the lovely sightings of the Wigeons, Sue loved the colours, and the scenary, we had a delightful day. It was more than once we'd take in the views and say 'who wants to go abroad'.
