North Cave Wetlands.
Calm after the storm.
I've condensed two visits in one here. We popped in yesterday for a sausage butty on our way up north, but there had been a sighting a few days before of a Black-necked Grebe, so naturally we decided to have a quick shufty despite the foul weather. We covered all the ponds from the three hides with no sightings by us or anyone else. So we were soon on our way but vowed to return the search the next day. So back we are. I must also add that the weekend also included visits to Filey Dams and The Brigg. We have never experienced such a lack of birdlife at The Dams. No Starlings, no Gulls, no Lapwings, just Teal and Mallard. So no blog! Back at North Cave things were a little more active and with the storm having blown over it turned out to be a fine day with decent sightings. Unfortunately no Black-necked Grebe.
You should have seen it yesterday!
Barnacle Goose, Redshank, Ruff, Curlew, Snipe, Whooper Swan, Golden Eye, Linnet, Yellowhammer.
