Sherwood Forest Centre Parc
One of the many ponds.
This is our first visit to a Centre Parc kindly organised by my daughter and son-in-law. When we arrived I expected the place to be three quarters empty. There was a queue stretching back into Nottingham! Who said there's a recession on? We got settled into a lovely villa with views overlooking a small pond with no other building in sight. Thats the view in the picture below. The whole site is laid out so that each villa has similar aspects. Hang on a minute. I'm not writing this blog promoting Centre Parc's. They've already made enough from me when I bought that breakfast on a pancake that I expected to be an omelette. It still makes me heave now just thinking about it. There are a couple of good hides, the one nearest the nature centre in particular is in a fine position with well stocked feeders providing for lots of birds and squirrels.
A short walk along the green trail from there takes you away from the multitudes. The surroundings are beautiful and completely free from cyclists. It seems to be a policy on the site to ban cars from any of the roads so that the cyclists have a better chance of running you down. You quickly learn that the 'tink tink' behind you is not a bird call but a cyclist wanting you to move. I cannot think why they allow any cycle riding at all. The site is small enough to reach any location after a gentle stroll. I was surprised not to see them cycling through the pool changing rooms and then into the pool. We got through our stay unscathed and feeling recharged after spending a short while in a delightful place with delightful company.
The view from our villa.
